Title: The Price of Admission
Post by: classicrockgriller on March 10, 2013, 02:47:07 PM
I was at my neighbor's house (about 2 miles) and He informed me he was having
a get together on the 9th. After asking what I could bring, there was a chorus of
voices chanting . . . . . "CILANTRO POTATO SALAD".

5 lbs of Red Potatoes

Loaded up the Mule for a 10 minute ride. Some of the Early guest were already there.
They had two containers this size: Spicy and EXTRA SPICEY with mushrooms and
sausage.

Boiled Shrimp (they were cooking more while I took this picture)

You have to have Corn and Potatoes

The Cooking Pots

Had another table with Pulled Pork, Hotdogs, Hamburgers and deserts.

The kids and some adults rode 4 wheelers and horses while others
played Washers.

The "Host" and his Grandson

Host's granddaughter had painted her own mudbug flat with her name.

Kids played at the Hold'em Table before getting runoff by the serious players.

I left around 4:30 to come home and tend to dehydrating starters and feed
the dogs, etc. I went back around 8:30 or so and the eating crowd had come
and gone. The Men folks were at the Craps table rolling Dice and the Lady's
were busy popping mudbug heads.

This will rest in fridge and get finished peelin to be made into other goodies.

I joined the Guys at the Crap table and came out ahead. On to playing cards and
after 3 hours or so it was time to go. Beer was running low and I hate to hear grown
men cry. Back on the Mule for the ride Home.

I must have had a good time, I woke up this morning with a headache.

They use to do this every year. Sorta of a big Birthday Party for his wife,
daughter, and son whose birthdays are all close to each other. The wife
came down with breast cancer and he stopped.

Last year his Son-In-Law (my Buddy) organized a HUGH Crawfish fund
raiser to help with Hospital expenses and also Breast Cancer Awareness.
I was told the total collected that day with the silent auctions, selling of
Crawfish, and donations was over $30,000. Half the Money went to Breast
Cancer research. I helped and what a big and great day it was. They boiled
over 1,000 lbs of Crawfish!

This get together was basically for the people that participated that day.
They boiled right at 200 lbs of mudbugs. Was a fun time.

The Pig is an awesome cozie in that you can put a cozie inside it.
Beer never has a chance to get a bit warm. The Pig was hiding
the cozie from the Iowa gas station chain . . . Kum and Go. :)

Looks like a great feast Sonny.  Crawfish, shrimp, corn, potato, probably some andouille sausage and plenty of beer.  What more could you ask for?

The 10 minute ride on the Mule going over there turned

into a 30 minute adventure coming home at 2:30 in the

morning. Must have taken a wrong turn somewhere.
