There was an old story about how Cajun's migrated to Texas.

Seems the Sabine River that flows between Texas and Louisianna
dried up during a drought.

There was a man with a wooden peg leg crossed the river and in
doing so he left holes in the soft river bed.

Them Cajuns thought they were Crawdad holes and came on across.
