Hi everyone,
I am not sure I am getting my bang for the buck regarding my bisquettes. I really felt I didn't get the color I expected (that's a lesson I'll ask about another time). Anyway here is a shot of what the discharged bisq looks like. Am I setting something wrong or is the plate not heating enough. Or is this how it is. Thanks in advance ......got to watch my Jayhawks !

A few questions;
Are you allowing the bisquette burner to preheat prior to sending any bisquettes through? The one to the right looks like what occurs when the burner is not preheated.
Are you using a cold smoke setup? Often with a cold smoke setup bisquettes will not burn as completely.
What bisquette did you use? Some bisquettes are compress more then others, and often you will see only the bottom half burn.
Is your burner clean of debris? Built up tar on the burner will also cause the bisquettes not to full burn.

They look like mine also. I pre-heat the SG and my burner plate is clean.
The Bradley smoke generator is designed to cycle every 20 minutes. It also need to be able to push the burnt puck off the plate into the water bowl. If the pucks were to burn down to ash then it would be a mess on the heating plate. Some flavor pucks burn down more than others.
My pucks also look like your photos. As long as you're getting 20 minutes of smoke from each puck I wouldn't worry about the puck not being used up. Just enjoy ;D

Mine do not look like the ones in the photo. Mine are completely charred, and retain their shape.

I've heard similar statements from family members. I guess I'm not that special after all. :) ;D 8)
I always clean the spot where the pucks sit to smoke. Crap builds up there and acts like an insulator and not as much heat is transferred to the pucks. Also like stated above, preheat the puck burner like you preheat the smoker. Also some pucks never seem to char the whole way. Harder wood? Tighter compaction? Who knows but I have seen it from time to time. I bet your puck burner plate has a build up on it, first time I went to clean mine I had to use a putty knife, now I clean it every time I smoke with a scrub pad.

The first one is after a half hour warmup of the puck burner, the rest burn completely unless I'm doing a cold smoke with it.
I always clean the puck burner with a fine wire brush before every smoke.
I am in the mine also burn thru completely crowd.

I discovered that my pucks burn much better if they are dry. I live in a wet climate and the pucks are affected, especially during the rainy winter months. I now bring the pucks into the house a day before, lay them out on a cookie sheet and place them into the oven with the "warm" setting for an hour or so. They burn much better after this.
