Title: Vancouver. BC locals -getting around questions
Post by: FLBentRider on April 04, 2013, 07:58:11 AM
The Mrs and I are taking an Alaskan cruise this summer. The cruise will drop us off at the cruise terminal in Vancouver, BC.

My question is about (how to) get back to the US, We would like to visit Seattle as well as some places in Oregon.

We can't rent a car in Canada and cross the border and return it in the US :( Airlines are a PITA as well.

My research indicates that there is a ferry from Victoria to Seattle, but that means getting to Victoria from Vancouver, which is another ferry ride. We looked into the train, but the schedule is not really condusive to our plans. There is a bus, but...

Then of course there are questions like:
What are the "must see" places in Vancouver and/or Victoria
Places to stay ? Most likely one night. Bed and Breakfast is certainly an option.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Randy, What day are you going to be in Vancouver? Could you rent a car out of Bellingham? Bellingham is only 20 mins. from the border. If so and you would be here on a saturday I could pick you up and drive you to Bellingham.

If you haven't been there, spend a day or two in Victoria.  Way cool place (and if you're taking the kids, don't miss the Royal BC Museum).

If you have the time RV it and most of your problems would be solved.

We wish we had the time, but adding a week at each end, and 10 mpg has a detrimental effect.

Take the bent and pedal back.  I'd be inclined to do something like that if I didn't have any other family members traveling with me.

I just charted that ride. 3,491 miles. 24.75 12-hour days on a bike. yowza what a trip that would be.

At least it is all down-hill :)
