Title: First Brisket
Post by: mez on July 12, 2013, 06:11:46 PM
So It's my dads 70th bday sunday and i offered to feed the family .The usual pork butt but when brisket was mentioned my dads eyes lit up.So i guess were having brisket to!Only I've never done one.So I came to you guys for help.Picked up a 8lb piece after work today. Was wondering approximate cook times and any  rubs that would be re comended. Also is there any reason I can't cook the butt at the same time? Thanks for your help!

Go to the recipe site (http://www.susanminor.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?180-Our-Time-Tested-and-Proven-Recipes) and check out the brisket recipes - especially anything authored by Pachanga.

went with the Pachanga rub.Sadly it's only gonna get about 6 hrs of fridge time till I start smoking it .Had some emergency jobs lastnight didn't get to the meat till this afternoon.any suggestions on a sauce for the brisket in case anyone wants it?And does 16=18hrs sound about right for cook time with a 8lb brisket and 8lb butt?
