Has anyone smoked chestnuts, my buddy has a tree and I just got a 5 gal bucket full of them.
Will follow this subject............. what flavor smoke is recommended?

If the chestnuts were not sprayed while in blossom, you might open a few and check for a little white worm... or put a few in a glass bowl and let them sit in the house for a week, if the worm has not made himself known, you might be good to go...
Ok, well I found out not long after I brought them home that they are horse chestnuts. Hahaa, I wont be smoking or eating them, really bitter.

Ha and poisonous too. Don't eat them. That is the kind we find around these parts also.
