Title: Another competition to judge
Post by: KyNola on October 17, 2013, 08:02:57 AM
One of the teams at BBQ on the River, JMACK, is a 5 time Grand Champion winner.  Only one other team has more GC's so these are some serious smokers.  JMACK used to compete in KCBS events about 20 times a year.  Each year they sponsor a BBQ competition in the area and although it is not a KCBS sanctioned event, they essentially apply the KCBS rules and standards.  Jan and I got a call from them last night.  They asked if we would come down and be part of the judging team.  Naturally we jumped all over the opportunity.  We felt honored that those guys would call us.  Friday night we are judging the "Anything but" competition and Saturday will be part of the judging team for pork, ribs, chicken and brisket.

We are really looking forward to this weekend.  Weather should be beautiful, hickory smoke drifting in the air and lots of BBQ to taste.  What's not to like? 8)

Congratulations on your being asked to judge.  I guess that they know talent when they see it.  I am sure that you and Jan will prove that they made the right choice in their selection.  This probably goes without saying, enjoy yourselves!   ;)

I think it says something about the caliber of members these forum have, to have so many members selected and invited to judge BBQ competitions across the country.

Congratulations to KyNola and Jan!

And way to go to everyone who has worked as a competition judge over the past couple of months!  We appreciate that these events are possible because you volunteer your time and expertise.  And we appreciate you sharing your time and expertise with us, here!
