finally after 8 years of being a member i finally hit 5000 posts, i know for some it is not a lot, none the less it is still a milestone, for that i have a new play toy and here is my review of it..
key ingredient reader, is a electronic cook book, it comes preloaded with 250 recipes and you can load up to 2500 recipes with pictures and other information. or 5000 with out pictures,, as per there information

the green folders are recipe books that i have set up and made recipes in, across the bottom starting at the left is main menu which is what you see, as for the rest i will show you
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/beefmann/key%20ingredient/DSC02623_zps3c68151e.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/beefmann/media/key%20ingredient/DSC02623_zps3c68151e.jpg.html)
this is what is in one of the cook book folders,,, you can set yours up differently . this is my American recipe book as you can see in the upper left hand corner
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/beefmann/key%20ingredient/DSC02625_zps23f301b9.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/beefmann/media/key%20ingredient/DSC02625_zps23f301b9.jpg.html)
the recipe and directions all on one page making it easy with out having to really fuss, if it in a long recipe or instructions,, you can scroll the page down
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/beefmann/key%20ingredient/DSC02626_zpsf4b02f9a.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/beefmann/media/key%20ingredient/DSC02626_zpsf4b02f9a.jpg.html) on the about page, you can add it to the planner which is used to make the meal easier,,, and you can flip through the planner on the selected recipes,,, more later
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/beefmann/key%20ingredient/DSC02627_zps946abfbf.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/beefmann/media/key%20ingredient/DSC02627_zps946abfbf.jpg.html) a nice feature it has built in 3 different timers to monitor 3 different items for cooking
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/beefmann/key%20ingredient/DSC02628_zps10b10be3.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/beefmann/media/key%20ingredient/DSC02628_zps10b10be3.jpg.html) another very nice feature is the converter function that you can convert to almost anything from a dash to tsp to cup to gallon,,, to many to list here though very helpful
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/beefmann/key%20ingredient/DSC02629_zps472f25d3.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/beefmann/media/key%20ingredient/DSC02629_zps472f25d3.jpg.html)
one of my favorite items is the substitution menu,, if you done have an ingredient and want to know what you can use in place of it,, here you go,, a quick reference...
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/beefmann/key%20ingredient/DSC02630_zps2942b97f.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/beefmann/media/key%20ingredient/DSC02630_zps2942b97f.jpg.html) the option page is where you like it to your wireless wifi and your account on key ingredient also on key ingredient is where you program your recipes there you can make them pubic, friends or private
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/beefmann/key%20ingredient/DSC02631_zps0d40e834.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/beefmann/media/key%20ingredient/DSC02631_zps0d40e834.jpg.html) my easter cook book i just choose 3 items and add them to my planner and go from there
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/beefmann/key%20ingredient/DSC02633_zps90651ce0.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/beefmann/media/key%20ingredient/DSC02633_zps90651ce0.jpg.html) after you set up the planner you press second button as indicated and it will go onto the next item for the meal so prep and cooking is made easier
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/beefmann/key%20ingredient/DSC02634_zps0d422bb2.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/beefmann/media/key%20ingredient/DSC02634_zps0d422bb2.jpg.html) second item of 3
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh103/beefmann/key%20ingredient/DSC02635_zps44274eec.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/beefmann/media/key%20ingredient/DSC02635_zps44274eec.jpg.html) and 3 of 3 all through the planner which makes it easier instead of searching through the recipes for the one you want again,,,, after done with the planner,,, you just go through and clear it,
one minor problem that i currently see is the battery life is about 2 1/2 hours with wifi on,,, not sure of what it is when it is off,,, am thinking maybe an hour longer, it does come with a charger so its not really an issue 2 /12 hours is plenty long enough to read the recipes and work on them .. and all 3 have had it on well over an hour and never had it go blank or enter a battery saving mode over all a good produce ti have, great for thoes who are on the run and do bbq type events quite often
Congrats on your milestone! Nice "toy" too.

Congrats on the milestone and that's a pretty neat present you got there.
Congrats Beefman! That is a nifty little toy you have there!
The best part about these new toys and recipe apps is the grocery list they make for you so you just need to take it with you and get what you need. I have several of those apps on my I-phone and love them.
looks good, i need to start loading stuff on my ipad and such, been printing and throwing into a binder at home. but do highly reco the "how to cook everything" app by mark bittman, its a few bucks but tons of awesome stuff in it.
Pretty cool and definitely "feature rich."
I see you can get the app on Android (free) and use your existing tablet, phone, etc. Most importantly, you can apparently add recipes from your desktop - I can't type worth beans on a tablet.
Congrats beefman!
Niffty toy too! :)

that is the best part of it,,, all or most of the input is on a desktop or lap top.
the best thing of this recipe book is it was free,,,, here is the story
a while back i joined " keyingredient.com " as a basic member ... started adding in recipes as i was thinking of buying one of these readers for Christmas anyway,,, 10 days later up pops an add that states " for the first 1000 U.S basic members that become a prime member ( $ 20.00 a year ) gets the ingredient reader free" so im thinking how can i go wrong, a $ 150.00 reader, $ 20 membership for $ 20 cant go wrong,,, so i sign up for prime and pay for it,,, they send me the promo code to get the unit and follow the instructions and at that time they offer an extend 24 month warranty,,, hummm,,, why not so i pay for it as well,... so i now have $ 185 worth of goods services and warranty all for $ 35,,,, I think it is a great deal... and great score
That's awesome beefmann! Congratulations!
Congratulations, and the new toy looks very useful.
Congrats!! Cool toy and you got it for my favorite price too. :)
If you have a iPad I have been using this app. I find it really nice as it can copy recipes from web pages. As you can see in the photos I have the salmon recipe on it.
It's called paprika
