Title: How long can you FTC?
Post by: smokin stu on June 02, 2006, 12:47:40 PM
I have a nine pound pork butt and a gang coming over tomorrow.  The feeding needs to take place at 6pm sharp.  I will cook her for about 14 hours.  Counting back, thats 4AM start time.  I would like to start the butt at around 10-11pm tonight.

Can you FTC for 5-6 hours?  ??? How long can you FTC before it gets questionable? ???

I personally have FTC'd for 6hrs and it was still REAL HOT.  I typically double rap in a couple towels and throw a couple in on top....AND I leave the lid shut to the cooler.  I really think it could go longer with no problem...just make sure your foil is sealed real good.

I usually plan on FTC for butt or shoulder at 6Hours.  Almost too hot to handle when it comes out....and it comes out like buttaaaahhh!

Damn that sounds good!
