Post by: Dan Mac on November 03, 2013, 07:21:08 PM
Hi I just bought a new digital 4 rack smoker and I live up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is very cold right now and I was wondering if you guys leave your digital smoke generator outdoors when you are not smoking or if you should detached it and bring inside between smokes? Thank you in advance

Welcome from down in Texas, I have mine on a rolling kitchen cart and roll it inside when I'm not using it, at least until I get my smoker building moved and renovated to keep everything inside. I would think you could cover it with the Bradley cover or a tarp when it's cooled off and not in use. Many members have gotten storage cabinets and put theirs inside with a vent cut in the top or back of the cabinet. You can do a search on here for many posts showing how people house theirs.

Thanks, yes I picked up a cover, just wasn't sure if I should leave the digital smoke generator out in the cold when not in use. Thanks again

cold shouldn't hurt it, just unplug and protect from water damage and you should be ok. Other's may have a different opinion so go with what you're comfortable with.

Yes you want to detach your smoke generator and bring it inside. Or at a minimum bring it in to warm up for an hour or so before using it

didn't think about that, we don't get that cold down here for more than 3-4 days a year. ;D
