Title: Question on Foil, Towel, Cooler
Post by: renoman on December 15, 2013, 06:54:18 AM
How long can I keep a 14 pound turkey in there and still have it at serving temp at the dinner table?

For Thanksgiving this year our turkey finished cooking way sooner than I expected.  I did the FTC trick and it was still steaming hot when I unwrapped it to carve 4 hours later.

I've FTC'd for up to 6 hours and still had stuff to hot to touch.

The FTC worked out really good. I took the bird off the grill at 165 and did the FTC. Opened her up about 3 hours later and it had only lost 9 degrees. The only thing negative that happened was the skin came loose from the meat but that was not a big deal.
