Got a 10.5 lb bone-in turkey breast I'm smoking early for Christmas day at my sister's. It's 6* F this morning but more importantly, they've forecast a wind chill alert with winds 10-20 mph! Got the OBS pre-heating to 250* F, scalding water in the bowl, SG on and my brick soaking up the heat. If I can get a few hours of smoke with some heat applied, I'll be happy. Then I can move it to the house oven to finish. I'll LYK how this un-modified OBS does today against the elements.
Good luck :) :)
Due to time constraints, had to start it, 8:30 AM. Box = 217* F. Turkey = 57* F. Box temp dropped to 162* F.
Back to 185* F after an hour. Wind starting to come up. At least the sun is out!
Always a thrill in our neck of the woods ain't it Ragweed?

That 6F sounds like heat wave. -15 at 7 o'clock this morning on my way to work. Windchill advisory until noon tomorrow.

After 2 hrs, 40 min, Box = 197* F, IT = 117* F, air temp now 5* F, wind picking up. Thinking about moving to the house into the counter top roaster.
Tailfeathers, -15* F ? Don't need that. 5* F is cold enough!!
Well it's warmed up some, only -9 now. Supposed to get clear up to -2 by mid afternoon before it starts to drop again.

Just another normal day up here. ;D ;)
That's why I live down south! Well it looks like the OBS is gonna do just fine despite the below zero windchill. Sitting at an IT of 144* F. Box temp is 210* F. Five hours in. And just to prove I'm not cooking unicorn, here's a pic about 1 1/2 hours ago.

Sounds like a bunch of poor planning to me.
Ragweed-"down south" doesn't mean Nebraska to most folks, only those of hardy (or dumb) enough to live further north. Anyway, glad to see everything is working out for you.

Ragweed, that turkey breast looks good. Your cook is almost done, go inside and get warm.
It's done. 8 hrs on the nose. Here's the finished product.

I just wanted to show folks that were wavering on the purchase of a Bradley thinking it wouldn't do well in the winter, that it does just fine. Even when it's kinda cool outside.
Looks good Joe.
