Title: Smoker unit
Post by: smokerbush06 on January 04, 2014, 04:49:19 PM
Does anyone keep the whole digital unit outside for storage? I have been bringing my digital part in, and leaving the smoker box outside. Is it ok to leave both outside?...Michigan weather by the way

Not sure I should but I leave it all outside. My patio is covered by an awning and I have the cover for it so it is only exposed to ambient temps. I have an Auber single probe pid for it and I DO unhook that and bring it into the garage between uses.

I've seen suggestions from our cold country brethren that say if you don't bring it in overnight you should at least bring it in and warm it up before setting up to smoke.

Yeah I'll just keep it inside for safe measures

Mine sits outside year round on a covered deck. It is pretty well protected but still out in the cold. I have never had a problem.  :)

Mine stays outside under the cover. It's been down below 10* and it hasn't been hurt.

Anything digital I bring inside. I don't want to take a chance of moisture ruining anything after it warms up. Spendy units to replace for  a little extra time it takes to bring it in. Minnesota here.
