Can I use the Bradley flavor Bisquettes in my regular Brinkman charcoal smoker? And if so, would it be the same as I normally do it by soaking them in water and placing them directly onto the coals?
Please let me know as I plan on smoking a turkey on the 4th of July.
Thanks alot.
Sincerely,
D.Brown
You can't soak the pucks. They are held together with a water soluble binder. If you try to soak them, you end up with a pile of wet sawdust. If you try to use them in your Brinkman as you would wood chips, the pucks will just burn.
Bummer...I was hoping to get the flovor of the apple and cherry.....What if I put them in foil and placed them directly on the cooking rack above the water pan, but below the turkey?

I don't know, I doubt if you would get anysmoke, but you can give it a try. Is there any reason that it has to be done in the Brinkman? How big is your turkey? Is it too large to fit in the Bradley?
I dont have a Bradley :(
I believe that a Big Green Egg dealer has those flavors in chips.
Also almost any box store, or discount store sells wood chips.
Hi again,
Just a follow up, I ended up using some Hickory chunks in my smoker over the Fourth of July wknd and My turkey was the best it has ever been. When I took it out of the smoker after cooking for about 9 hours it was so tender the birds wings literally fell off. It was the most delicious turkey I have ever smoked. Thanks for not letting me ruin it by using the bisquettes in a manner they were not intended. It's good to know there are people that will help e newbie such as myself. I have yet to find a store however, that sells apple and cherry wood for smoking. It could be because I live in Iowa and everything is a little behind the times here.I'll keep on searching. Does any body have any good brine recipes and or smoking recipes etc...?
Anyways, Thanks again.
"syco" :D
You could always order different types of wood chips online. Start with Amazon.com, or do a search for wood chips.
