Title: how long is it good?
Post by: DTJ on May 12, 2014, 08:18:12 AM
How long can you keep a cryovac packer corn beef brisket in the fridge? I think i know the answer and know the saying if in doubt throw it out but still have to get some opinions. It got put in the outside fridge and remembered and forgotten and remembered and run out of time etc. Just checked the receipt and It has been 60 days,( longer than i thought) and i know others have talked about packer briskets and no more than 45 days but was not sure being a corn beef if this may extend that window.

Hate to throw it out but don't want anyone getting sick.
Let me know your thoughts

There should be a "use by date" on the package. I purchased some corned beef a week before St. Patrick's day, when they went on sale, and they were far cheaper than buying brisket flats. I forgot about them, and left them in the refrigerator, never getting around to use them. Last Friday I remembered I still have them, and when I checked them the "use by date" is May 17, 2014. When you see a use by date on meat you still have at least 4 days beyond that.
