Title: Prague #1 smell?
Post by: porkdog324 on May 14, 2014, 07:15:39 AM
Hi All

I received a one pound container of Prague Powder #1 from ebay.  I used it for the first time last night.  I took a whiff of the stuff and thought it smelled almost like a bleach smell.

Does that make sense to anyone.  It reminded me a bit of the sanitizing powder I use to use in wine making (it is also pink)

Thanks,
Brent

It does have a little bit of a "chemical" smell IMO. But you have to get your nose really close to smell it. How strong is it?

I guess smell can be subjective, I would say it has a fairly strong smell.

I tasted it it and it is definitely salty, I'm probably just paranoid.

I had to check mine, and mine has a very faint smell that you may describe as the smell of bottle bleach, and I also had to get my nose very close.

I use InstaCure and never come across Prague Powder, so the smell could be from the particular dye they used to tint the mixture. What type of package is it stored in. Sometimes packaging can give off an odor.

You might want to call or email the place you purchase the Prague Powder from.
