Title: First time Bradley pulled pork goodness!
Post by: kayes on May 25, 2014, 05:14:54 PM
I finally got to do up a shoulder on my OBS.  12lb picnic at 21.5 hours total cooking time with 5 hours of hickory. It turned out extremely tender and juicy!

I rubbed it with mustard and modified Jan's rub.

I  kept it as close to 200F as possible (no PID unfortunately). Here it is at 12 hours:

Here it is after 21.5 hours:

Here it is all shredded up

All right, looks tasty.  How did you serve it?  I haven't done a pulled yet, but I keep looking at these pics and am wondering why not.  Good one!

Had it on buns with sauce and coleslaw on the side.

Try this for REALLY good coleslaw:
Crunchy Bacon Coleslaw
3/4 cup Hellmans mayo
1 Tbsp sugar
1.5 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 bag coleslaw
1/2 lb bacon diced, browned and drained
1/2 cup course chopped dry roasted peanuts.
combine mayo, sugar and vinegar in large bowl, stir well.
stir in coleslaw until combined
add cooked bacon and peanuts, stir just enough to get mixed.
enjoy.

That looks awesome kayes! I still haven't done pulled pork yet, but it's definitely on the agenda for this summer...

Woodlawn, I like to use a potato roll for a PP sandwich.  I think they are a bit more moist and a bit more sweet that the typical hamburger bun.  I find that in my area, the Orowheat brand is the easiest to find and that Walmart usually has a good supply.

I second what tskeeter said!  Potato rolls is how we served out PP this weekend and it was awesome!

Got the recipe from my sister's friend at a potluck years ago and haven't made coleslaw any other way since then!

That looks fabulous!  I am doing a smaller 1/2 butt myself today.
Love it with coleslaw also!

:)
Thanks for sharing.

Good job.  The CYM helps give it that nice bark that you achieved, and there is no mustard taste.
