Title: Specialist Justin Helton
Post by: DaveT261 on June 23, 2014, 10:00:45 AM
Specialist Helton was killed last week in Afghanistan

I was honored to ride with the American Legion on Saturday for Specialist Justin Helton's final ride home.

This has to be one of the most humbling experiences I have ever been part of.  The magnitude of people that took part in this was overwhelming.  The ceremony at Rickenbacker was gut wrenching, we lined the street to the airport hanger and saluted  Justin's family as they made their way to the airplane, it was the most heartfelt salute I ever gave.

We made the 60 mile journey to Waverly, the roads were lined with people from the beginning to the end, traffic stopped in the opposite direction and the  people were out of their vehicles giving their respect for Justin.

Flags were placed all along the route which was very touching but the thing that got to me was the signs....I will never forget the signs.

This is an eleven minute video, if you ever get the time to watch it you will get to see how many riders showed up and supported him.
