Title: Elk Roast Wood Selection

A friend of mine gave my a boneless shoulder roast from an Elk with the desire that i smoke it for him. any suggestions on which puck type would be best suited for the elk? at the time i have alder, maple, apple, cherry, mesquite and hickory available

I would go with Hickory then Oak then Cherry. Since you have Hickory that would be my choice.  :)

I've done elk short ribs on my Bradley with apple and then hickory.  Came out really nice.
