That's a good looking bird, just a few questions did you brine? what temp and how much smoke and time to cook?
Thanks
Bill
Nice job!
I didn't brine the turkey,i did some reading and some guys were saying that seasoned turkeys were already had a brine done, so i decided to try it without a brine and it turned out great not dry at all, i did use a 10lbs butterball. I cooked it at 220f and i pulled it out at 150f and put it in the oven at 350f until it hit 180f. I smoked it for 4.5 to 5hrs and i put it in the smoker at 9am and removed et at 4pm
Looking good, I'm hoping to do this at Thanksgiving
I am about to do my first 14.5lb turkey this weekend and I was wondering about the times you mentioned. I see you smoked it for 4.5 hours, then kept it in the smoker for a total of 9 hours, prior to finishing it in the oven. Is this correct?
My plan is to smoke for 4 hours then finish it in the oven as well, but I hadn't thought of heating in the smoker for so long after smoking... why did you do this, if for no reason other than low and slow?
Thanks!
