Title: Jerky: Smoke then dehydrate? What is the technique

Just got a excaliber dehydrator and recipes call for liquid smoke... Rather than using that, is there a way / technique to smoke first, then dehydrate?

You can smoke at about 150 degrees for 1-2 hours then transfer to your new dehydrator.

You might take a look at this old post I made. It gives you a few hints on how to make jerky using a jerky board. It also gives a way to extract fat from fatty meat. You want to make your jerky with as lean of meat as possible. You can look at the link below.
