Anyone NOT put water in the bowl to extinguish the pucks? Does Interpol kik your door down and come confiscate the smoker? Any other bad things that can happen?
Yes --hot pucks and grease drippings = fire
THeres a drip pan above the bowl? Have not opened mine yet. My Big Chief only caught fire once when I used chips from an open bag that had dried out too much and caught fire. I only knew because there was nothing left in the pan.
There is a drip tray above the bowl. It has a hole, and the purpose of that tray is to help the smoke distribute better throughout the cabinet, and to drain fat and other drippings into the drip bowl.
When you are making items such as smoked cheese, jerky, smoked fish, all cold smoked items, or if you are using it as a dehydrator; you can remove the bowl after you have finished applying the smoke. Leaving the bowl in I feel will add very little additional moisture to your cabinet.
