Can we take a digital smoke generator and swap it to a bs611, just asking, are the parts all universal.

Hi Tbaby337;

Welcome to the forum.

You can use a digital generator to control the cabinet of the BS611. At least one member has done this by adding the temperature sensor, but it would be much easier, and you would get a much more better temperature control if you just use a Auber PID for Electric Smokers (http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=14_28) to control your cabinet, and the cost would be around the same as buying a digital generator.

If you're wanting to do this for tighter temp control the digital generator has the same temp swings as the BS611. A PID controller is the solution for that.
