Title: Greetings from the Catskill Mountains
Post by: lloydg on January 09, 2015, 03:12:20 PM
I'm really stoked to have just received a used BS BTDS108P for xmas. just waiting for the weather to get above sub-zero to give it a try. maybe by april? i have one question that's not really about smoking. my smoker is in good shape and clean but the appearance of the exterior cabinet (not door) is 'distressed' by heat and maybe weather. is it ok to re-paint it with high-heat spray paint?
thanks in advance and to all a smokin' new year
lg

Welcome to the forum!

Here's a web site that I found very helpful as a newbie smoker.  When you have some time, you might want to check it out.  It's a compilation of recipes from many of this forums most experienced smokers.  www.susanminor.org   (Our Time Tested and Proven Recipes)

Hi lloydg;

Welcome to the forum.

You don't need high temperature paint, any enamel based paint will work. The exterior is more effected by the sun's rays then the interior heat of the cabinet.
