Looks like the internet spammers are creeping in. Hope Martin is fighting back.

Registering and all that. Bad Deal. Seems like there would be better spaming grounds to me. That was three in todays unread posts.
Sorry guys, but the remaining power in me must delete all replies before I can get rid of the spam-masters. And you already know, I don't come here like I used to.
Kirk
No problem Kirt.
It's the pornography links that some sicko has been posting that has really p*ss*d me off, my eldest boy of 8 takes an interest in the forum and I would hate him to inadvertantly click on one of the posted links. Lowest form of vermin in my view.

Lower than whale poop that's for sure!
QuoteI agree, the porn links are the worst. Until we see how this shakes out, I would suggest accompanying your kids as they visit the forum if you are worried by that.
Yes, I have left Jack to have a look round himself in the past confident of the content of the forum, even the jokes that appear never worry me but I do plan to accompany him for the timebeing in the light of recent posts.
What is up with all these wackos comming here latley :P.
It's odd that these idiots really believe that anyone on this forum will respond to there junk. Earlier this morning one had the nerve to stay logged on after s/he posted their garbage.

Even vermin gotta eat. Maybe they were looking up a few recipes before moving on ;)
That's a very good point ;D
Don't feed em and maybe they'll go down the street! :D ::) ;D
I see our epidemic is still strong. At least they seem to be sticking to the general discussion topic. Too bad its a waste of time goign there now.
I've seen them in other areas of the board, and I guess they feel they are getting more sophisticated by asking a smoke related question then posting their links. Seems like a lot of work, the idiot probably doesn't know any other way.
I just seen one hit a game camera building forum that I frequent yesterday too! I guess spamming e-mail; isn't enough anymore >:(
MRH
I'm getting pretty good at spotting them by the subject heading, and not even opening them. After reading all "genuine " post I then click on "mark all post as read".
I've just started "reporting" them - hope that's OK, seemed like the thing to do at the time.

One thing that can be done -- if you have protection-- is to go to that site (some are re-directs) and then add that site's addy to your IP blocker of your virus / firewall program. Then if your child should click on a link here that you have blocked he / she will see nothing.
This is something else to point out. I've seen re-directs from sites kids would go to have fun take them to an adult site. I saw a couple on a BattleZone "download" that were re-directs.

IMO we are now on someone's list. As many times as these pecker-heads have posted you would think that the IT department would now have their IP range.
Olds
Couldn't the IT department set a rule that the 1st and 2nd post by a new user doesn't get posted until reviewed? Or is that alot of work?
If the 1st post is spam, then whack the user.

Yepper that means someone has to monitor the boards 24/7.
