Title: The Forum
Post by: TomG on October 27, 2006, 07:15:29 PM
Guys, we're a very small community, almost a family ::).  I hate to tell you how many times I, my brother, or a cousin has thrown his or her napkin on a Thanksgiving dinner table, stormed out of the room shaking their heads in red faced anger only to return in 15 minutes, smiling and reaching for a second helping of turkey.  We should be able to discuss uncomfortable subjects, disagree, get pissed, and then come back to the table and enjoy each other's company.

BTW Kirk, I taught Grasshopper Kummok everything he knows about making bait. ;D

40 is not bad. From my recollection from living by the peace garden your still good for another drop of 80 f degrees.  I will say though 40 degrees in SD is the coldest I could ever feel.

Guys, we're a very small community, almost a family ::)......

I've used that statement before to describe some of my staff meeting experiences....."we're family alright, the MANSON family!"  ;) ;D

The simple fact is that, for the majority of us, we are a web presence personality and have a "virtual relationship". If/when true friendships arise out of the forum, (and I can attest to the fact that they have), that is a great thing. Regarding the recent "discourse", Olds and others were party to, Olds and I have been a BS web presence for a few years and we get along just fine off-line, on the phone AND on-line but I look forward to the day when we can actually sit together sip a brew (without a cigarette...GO Olds!) and look at the sunset, (discussing whether it is setting a little more to the left or to the right ;)).

Grasshopper Kummok appreciates your wise counsel oh ancient one  ;) and it is indeed good advice in order to allow adult discourse and yet not lose anyone to collateral damage.....the "off-smoking" topics boil down to little 1's and 0's on a screen and are certainly not anything to lose sleep or "virtual" friends over.

I've seen quite a few forum battles on this forum over the years, but nothing yet that's worth falling on my sword over. I probably enjoy the discourse too much, but after 35+ years in emergency response service I'm used to facing fires of all kinds and STILL look forward to not only the heat, but the forging that occurs as a result....must be some Italian in me but I CAN'T imagine life with out some heat, smoke & spice ;)

P.S.
21°F up here this morning.....perfect for keeping salmon cold until they get into the fridge!

QuoteGood night moon. Good night old lady with the wooden spoon.
I love that book.

"Good night mush."  I laugh every time I read that line to my daughter.
