Title: Lamb ribs
Post by: car54 on November 28, 2006, 02:15:03 AM
I am able to get lamb ribs at a good price. I does not look like they have much meat on them. Does any one have experience with these?

Thanks, Brad

If they don't have much meat on them I wouldn't buy them. That is why I don't buy beef short ribs. In my area they are considered waste, and the butchers/meat cutters trim them so much there is little meat left.

I always end up still feeling hungry when I have eaten them, they never seem to have much meat on them and you need a lot of them to make a good meal!

In the past I used to get a whole lamb from a farmer friend of mine and if I bothered using the lambs ribs at all it was to make a stock or soup with.

IMO unless you have the butcher custom cut them I'd leave them be. Like the others said they always trim them to much to make it worth it. :)
