Title: Time
Post by: Infalable on December 25, 2006, 05:54:46 PM
Time is the enemy here. I finally have enoungh $$ for my BS and no time to go get it. So if you will all kindly stop chatting about your great meats until I get my BS it would greatly be appreciated - LOL. Hopefully in two weeks I will get up to Bass Pro to buy my BS.  Brisket and Ribs beware. Thanks all for all the advice in deciding when and what to buy.

Infalable,

Welcome to the forum. I won't talk about all the great smoked stuff coming out of mine, but will merely point out all the additional adult beverage time it affords me as the machine does it job.

Posts some pics when you get the beast tuned up and cranking out for you.

I know many folks have said nothing but the best about Chez Bubba. I am not sure this is even appropriate to ask, but I found some BSs cheaper at places such as Bass. Is there any advantage of ordering from him, over buying elswhere. If this is an inappropriate question based on rules of the forum, please delete this response. Thanks.

Dont think Bass Pro will discount future puck orders like Chez? Never had cabellas or bass pro call me on the phone. Never had any dealer where i bought anything offer to help with service issue - with Bradley was not needed but Chez offered anyway.  How many folks at Pro ever really smoked anything.

Bass et.al. is a great store and I would be the last to dis them especially with all the money I have spent there. When I want to talk fishing gear I wont be calling Chez but I sure like knowing he is there to talk smokers...that is value worth something i think.

I bought the original BS. I will not be able to smoke everyweekend, but I will do so as often as I can. I didnt think I needed the Stainless or the digital for my needs. I am very pleased with my choice. Only hard part now is waiting. I tried smoking on my Weber charcoal. As you prob know that just doesn't cut it. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.

Plus thanks to all you folks I think I have the procedure down pat. Load the Smoker. Sit down. Chill out. Watch the smoker, Suck down Lemonaid and Diet Coke (No alcohol for me, I have a bad heart). Pig out when down. Am I one of you'all  now???????????????????

The OBS is a great choice.  I have a digital and have found it is a good lock and load smoker. The OBS however seems to be a more flexible unit going forward. When you are ready and think there is value, the OBS is easier to add control features (PID) that will give you performance better than the DBS in terms of temp contol - no extra wire required to seperate the generator from the tower for cold smoke -- Welcome and post experiences / questions.

Thanks Kansan. Like I said, I feel like a kid waiting at Christmas. I'll let you know how the first smoke goes.

Well I got it. Looks great. I have it curing now. Just a whiff of that smoke was worth it.

It seemed to cure well. Its about 30 degrees and windy here in Chicago. The temp seemed to be steady throughout the 1.5 hours I cured. I was very pleased. Ribs on Sat if not to cold.

If you can generate smoke, you can always finish in the oven.  Gotta Eat. ;)
