Title: Circulation fan install
Post by: RonR on January 03, 2007, 10:58:58 AM
Hi guys, I purchased the motor and the 2 fan blades from grainger.  I hope I can figure out the reversible part.  I was wondering something,  on that motor both wires look the same.  Is the top wire(closest to the shaft) or the bottom wire (farther from shaft) the Hot wire?  Also, for a CCW installation what way should my set screw be facing on each fan blade? Thanks for the help.  I'm sure i'll have lots of question on this mod.  I have read everything I can find in this forum on the install.  Doesn't mean I have a grasp of it all though.  :P  Thanks

Hi Ron

Here is a thread I discribed how I changed the motor to CCW. It's about halfway down the page.

As far as the wires go I don't think it matters which way you hook them up, as long as one of them is not hooked to the ground.

How will the fan work with my PID?
Will it throw the numbers off?

I don't have a PID but from what I understand if you added the fan you would want to run the autotune again. Hopefully someone will chime in who is running both a fan and PID.
