Title: My new system
Post by: Oldman on April 21, 2007, 07:41:37 PM
Well I got the new system. Not the fastest in the gaming world but this thing screams.  It has the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ AM2 CPU. (At the moment it is the fastest AMD dual processor AMD makes.) The V-card is an MSI XFX 7950GT 512MB PCI-E. For a single card system all I can say is wow~~!  The mother board is also MSI and it will support 2 monitors. Next, 2 gigs of ram. Next 3 - ATA 250 gig HDs in removable caddies. (Two of the drives are bootable -- one business the other is personal -- and the 3rd drive is my new data backup drive.)  A 500 watt power supply. However, I did not use a sound card this time-- stayed with the onboard sound. The reason is my home office now is so small that a 5.1 or better sound system will not work as there just is no room for all of those speakers.  (I just picked up a nice 2.1 speaker system and it will work for the time being.)

After much reading I did not go with the Vista OS but went with XP Pro X64.

I still have several hours of loading programs, and data and patchs... opps oh man the mods I have to load for Ghost Recon--Yuck~~! Those alone will take good couple of hours.  I also got an external hard drive. This will make loading up my backup from my old backup hard drive much easier.

Fun fun til your daddy takes the T-Bird away.

Nice spec on the new system Raye, very nice.  ;)

Sometime in the near future i also have to upgrade my system, my current pc was way ahead of it's time around 4 years ago, but is showing it's age now.

It's great having a brand new machine, hope you enjoy the new rig Raye.......LilSmoker(http://www.emotipad.com/newemoticons/Tip-Hat.gif)

Other than a couple of hours that I took a break, I have spent the entire day setting up the business drive. Opps the only thing left to do is set up my FTP.

Tomarrow I will start setting up my personal drive.
