So whats on for fathers day.SMOKED what pork fish chicken shrimp.Lets here whats going on.O and happy early fathers day to all u dads grandpas and well dads.LOL ;D ;D.Me ill be out on the doos and having a bubba burger.
I haven't been told what's going on around my house yet, but I also don't have any plans to be smokin' anything either. Got a brisket waiting on some fuse holders for the PID, but since they only got ordered yesterday, and they're special order for my area, I don't think they'll make it by the weekend.
Hoping the race gets over early enough to head to the lake to go fishing if the weather cooperates, and there's nothing else going on here.
Quite one for me and Ann. Going to roast up some turkeys on the grill and submerge myself in adult beverages and not answer the phone. :D ;D ;) Y'all have a great weekend and enjoy the weather.
The family is taking me (dear o'l Dad) out to my favourite Brewpub for lunch and ales. Upon returning home, I shall retire to the back yard and immerse myself in more ale, some reading and later, something on the grill for dinner.
On Monday morning, my son's kindergarten class is throwing a Fathers Day breakfast.
Got a 65# Oinker gonna roast got all the rubs, sop, and sauce ready. Just can't keep the "Adult" beverages in the box, they keep escaping ;) I looked three times just to see if there is just one in there that I missed, (Darn) Back to the store again. ;D ;D ;D
I am not doing ANYTHING. :D Not going to wait in lines at any food joints either. Otherwise I do not know. Will be loading RV Monday for our 2+ week trip. Happy Father's Day guys! 8)
Till 2:30 pm I'll be at work, we expect the kids to show up @ 4 pm with the grands and in the pool by 4:01 LOL. I hope to prep a butt sat and slap it in BS as I walk out tha door for work. Lets hope things go as planned.
Just got my first order of Iceman's BBQ sauce and Rub :) :) :)
Original plan was for 4th of July Baby Back Smoke using the sauce but I couldn't wait - had to do a trial run. ;D Will post about that later 8)
Just smoked up some Ribs and add me to the list of of ICEMAN's BBQ Sauce Life Long Customers. :P
Instead of waiting for 4th of July, Baby Backs and Pulled Pork (using ICEMAN's Rub and Sauce) are now on the menu for Daddy's Day. Will have to wait and see about the 4th - but I'll save that for another post. :-X
Bacon, bacon and more bacon! :o
Pretty excited since this will be my first Father's Day. My little man will be 6 weeks old. I can't believe how much he has already changed.
As far as plans go, my parents and the wife's parents are coming over to the house and the ladies will be grilling and cooking for us. Gonna just sit back, relax and enjoy spending time with my family.
Happy Father's Day everyone.
I gotta work, wife gotta work, sons overseas, daughters gotta work too so i guess is a reg work day :D :D :D
Wait.............where i work aint work ;D

Happy fathers day to all of you
Gonna go to Sams and pick up a couple of nice of butts.
While I am there I figure I can get something to cook this weekend as well :)

Gonna cook up a butt for sure..... I may wander through the Smoke and Spice book I have for something interesting as well.
Smokin' succotash, I am not a newbie anymore!!!! wow, gotta celebrate.
Oh ya, on fathers day I want the time and be kid free to repaint the OBS shack I built. The doors are gonna be bright red, the walls maybe bright blue or green, new black handles rather than the bits of wood I use, and I am looking for a large stencil or picture of something like a fat porky pig in a cooking outfit winking or dancing so I can put that on the front of the shack.....
nothing tacky tho ;D
Congrats there Jr. stu :D

:D Yep, that thars foreign! ;D
Just joined the Father's Club last Saturday at 4:53 pm. Right now, my plans center on finding an excuse to catch up on some sleep. Don't think the DBS will be fired up this weekend, but I bet I can find a few cold ones.
As for the smokin shack stencil, I'm sick but you could probably find a nice traceable picture of Porky and Petunia Pig online (not that I'm advocating infringement of any copyright)
Congrats to the new DADs (and moms). Enjoy the company of a new baby, time off, long nap, or what ever your enjoyment for the day is.
I have 25 lbs of baby back ribs that I am smoking for my grandson, his mother, step mom and her step daughters. He'll be back on Sunday, then he is going on a month long trip with his step mom to Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Tennessee and Colorado. I don't want him to leave hungry.

Congrats and post the story. There has to be a story ;D
WCK: Story? Pretty much Mr. Toad's Wild Ride since this was our first, and so the "new experience" was a learning experience in spades. Last Saturday at 4am straight up I hear my wife say "uh-oh" and I'm awake like I've had a double adrenoline laced espresso. Load the bags and the wife in the car and head to the hospital (via work, where the camera was). Doc visits the room and tells us that we should expect the baby at about 10pm (but it's 8 am now). So wife braves through the discomfort and Mike spends the day helping her focus on the positive, her breathing (I am breathing! sez she), and fetching any type of fluid or jello or popsicle that will help ease the process. Well, long story short: baby was delivered at 4:53 pm. Just like Dad, baby wanted to "make good time" and his schedule did not include waiting until 10 pm. Like Dad, he wanted to be able to say that he made that 18 hour trip in 13 hours. Right when active labor began my wife said something so funny (more like screamed several times and loud enough for the whole birthing wing to hear)... unintentionally funny, but hilarious... and I found myself desperately trying to overide the automatic belly laugh instinct or face a very long, painful death. I was only marginally successful, but by turning my back I think I managed to hide my reaction from the wife. I think the nurse had the same problem, but she was more professional.
So, meet our son Robert, born 6/9/07, 6lbs 12oz, 19 inches (Mom and Boy doing great, if you don't count sleep deprivation):

Proud poppa will be smoking some pork tenderloin later today, after all. Many late nights and early mornings so far. All that "training" in college and during the single years was good for something after all.

What a great looking boy. :) Proud papa comes through as well ;)
You and Mom did great, huge congrats to the both of you 8)
Thanks for the kind words. Me and the boy have been listening to music for the past upteen hours (at least that's what it feels like). But poppa is proud again: not the "quack, quack ducky" music, but my favorites which used to earn me those "turn down that noise" comments from my parents. 8) And the boy is now sleeping like an angel, whereas a few hours ago he more closely resembled Charles Manson. What a wild (and fun) ride. Have a good weekend.
Congrats Consiglieri,
Wow, I am surprised MOM would even let you entertain an idea of a stop at the office for the camera let alone let you go through it. Nicely done and apparently with plenty of time to spare. :)
Congrats from here as well! You will NEVER forget that day. My daughter (first child) was born on Father's Day the year she was born. Monday she will be 29 and the day of her birth is still vivid in my mind. Would not trade that day for anything.
Congrats. I wish all the very best as you begin a new and rewarding adventure in life. Cherish the moments.
I hope all you dads had a wonderful day with kids as I did. I had to work til 2:30 so I put a small butt and a rack of KC style ribs in BS prior to leaving out 4 work. then called the wiffie at 9 to have her put in split whole chix'n. Bout 5:30 we pulled them out, MAN O MAN did I screw up. Now I have two son-n-laws who want BS for xmas. So here is the question 1) do I have to feed them till xmas or save that money and get them one now?? hahahaha--- I know what you hard core smokers gonna say, LOL
Tell them to suck up to ya and have them buy the groceries and refreshments until Christmas. ;D
