I'm supposed to receive my new BDS next week, and I can't wait! I've smoked for the last 15 years or so on Brinkmann upright water smokers (been through 3 of them) and I'm really anxious to take it to the next level. I've mastered my favorites (ribs, salmon, pork tenderloin) on the old smokers and now I'm ready to do even better. I'm really loooking forward to try cold smoking. I've read just about every post in every forum over the last couple of weeks, and I must say you guys are a wealth of very helpful information. You have answered every question that has popped into my mind, but I'm sure I'll have some new ones when the BDS arrives. I'm looking forward to being a part of the Bradley community! Thank guys!
Hi Ontrack, welcome. Yup, it's unbelievable the wealth of info here. Enjoy your new smoker.
Welcome to the forum, Ontrack. Please feel free to share your adventures, ask questions, or simple draw from the wealth of knowledge posted here by the friendly folks on the forum.
Hi Ontrack! I too spent many years using that upright H2O smoker and trust me...the Bradley Smoker rocks...you're gonna have a ball with it!! Welcome! Lots of great info from the "Bradley Masters" on this site! Good Luck!!
Welcome to the family! You're gonna love the DBS! First thing, invest in a Maverick ET 73 thermometer. The temp sensor in the DBS is not even close to accurate. I have used the Brinkman's and went up to a big heavy Oklahoma Joe smoker. Nothing compares to the ease of a Bradley. Tomorrow I am smoking some beef fatties with ground country ham and cheese. I'm also smoking bologna, a brick of cheddar cheese and vidalia onions. Why? Because I can!
The guys on this forum are great. They are really helpful. Enjoy yourself.
KyNola ;D
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. The wife is doing that "rolling her eyes" thing at me because she says all I talk about now is the BDS and the food we're going to eat. That's OK, I've seen little miss skinny eat almost a full rack of ribs and mouth waterin' for more...we'll show her....can't wait!!!!
Welcome to the forum Ontrack! The wife will come around when she has a taste. Get the ET-73 for sure and keep us informed.
OK Wildcat-I thought by reading all the posts I had things pretty much figured out-but what is the ET-73?Shows you how much I know....Thanks
Welcome Ontrack,
The ET 73 is a RediCheck Maverick Dual probe remote temperature monitoring device. It allows you to monitor the box temperature and the meat temperature. The box temperature is important as you can monitor the actual temperature next to the meat. The door or built in thermometer is not as accurate. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask and also check out Old's recipe site if you haven't made it yet.
OK Gizmo--Thanks alot for the valuable info-gonna check it out right now!
Just ordered the ET-73..Thanks again for the info guys!

Hi and welcome Ontrack, while you're sorting out your accessories, you might want to look into some "Bubba Pucks" ;)

Welcome Ontrack, we look forward to seeing your results!
The Maverick ET-73 and Bubba Pucks are great choices. They should come with all Bradley Smokers.
GL!

Thanks all for the warm welcome. I already ordered the Bubba pucks--I've read alot about them already. With any luck, the smoker, pucks, Bubba pucks, and ET-73 should all arrive this week! Makes me look forward to the weekend even more than usual (if that's even possible). I want to do a brisket for my first Bradley smoke, if I can even find one around here. Of all my years of smoking with a water smoker, I have never done a brisket. In fact, I've only eaten it once in my 46 years...We have a local Sam's Club opening in a month or so and the next closest one is about 30 minutes away. None of the local grocers have brisket "on the shelf", but I haven't actually talked to anyone in the meat dept. to see if they could cut or order me one. Would a Super Wal Mart be a possibility? Thanks for all the help and advice, everyone.
I've seen them at the Super Wally World in Sioux City, IA. Local grocer had one that I bought a few weeks ago, then a couple of weeks later I saw another.
Welcome to the board.
Thanks for the welcome and the info TinyTim. I'm about 5 minutes from Super Wally, I'll check it out before the weekend (if the smoker arrives as scheduled).
Our Super store has them periodically. Your gonna love how well the Bradley handles briskets.
Tracking shows smoker tomorrow, everything else by Friday..really looking forward to this! On a local brisket hunt now. But if not, I have a big pork loin and quite a bit of salmon in the freezer on standby...
