Looks like propane, heat recovery should be easy in case it's not insulated. Can you keep the temp under 200? Sounds like a good price, but you need to find out what this unit can do.
I posted a conversion on a propane smoker I made awhile back. Works great in the winter Nepa. I used a Sentry gas control to keep the heat steady and a Bradley smoke generator. Heat recovery is not an issue at all with one of those. I also used an inverter for running the generator if I'm out in the sticks and want to smoke. Sort of a souped up version of the BPS.

Yeah its propane. 20,000 btu
Going to give it a whirl and see how it does. Got it for next to nuthin. Maybe do an iceman fit to it like he did on some of his in later posts.
