Ok everybody, I know that this could be a very opinionated question but I am interasted in purchesing my first 120 box of flavor bisquettes and am having a hard time making up my mind. I do mostly pork and chicken in my OBS but will do a good cut of beef when the opportunity presents it's self. I like the robustness of hickory and the sweetness of cherry. I also love the aroma of alder in the smoker but am a little disapointed with it's mildness. I want something with a good prominent smoke flavor, a little sweet, but yet not harsh. I have not tryed maple yet, I have some but am saving them for some Canadian bacon so that may be what i'm loking for, I'm not sure. So can any of you masters of flavor on here give me any suggestions?
Alder is nice and right in the middle . ;)
If I could only have one flavor, I would opt for Apple. I prefer Oak and Maple for many things, but Apple can be used on virtually anything IMHO.
I really like most of the woods, but i have to say oak is my allrounder, i'm really into pecan atm ;)

Alright ya all, I found this on the web can anybody tell me how accurate it is.

Good general guideline, but it really boils down to how long you smoke and personal taste.
Oak is my go to. But that is me and others will be different. I would not say that oak is a heavy smoke (as the link suggests). I put it pretty middle of the Bradley pack behind hickory and mesquite. Maple is pretty flexible as well giving a lighter sweeter flavor but not so light as apple / pecan.
Everybody is wired a little different.
I have to agree with WCK. If you are occasionally going to smoke beef, oak is a good choice to go with.
For choice of wood, I have to give the recipe site a plug:

good advise guys I knew I could count on you. Thanks for the link habanareo smoker. I think I'm gonna have to try oak and even if it's not what i'm looking for I haven't seen anything that I didn't like come out of my bradley yet. Thanks again
If your not in a big hurry to buy the box of 120, Amazon is still offering their buy 4 for the price of 3 and with free shipping it only comes to $47.67. This way you can try different flavors.

If the promotion is still going on, it only for the 48 packs that are sold by Amazon only. Do a search, and select one of the Bradley Briquettes 48 pack. Scroll down until you see the section "Product Promotions" and the offer should be listed in that. If it's not listed, then the bisquettes are being sold by another company.
After placing four 48 packs in you basket, when you check out one will be automatically deducted. Be careful when you select the bisquettes. If they are being sold by another company, the promotion will not be applied.

They don't show the deal outright. What you do is pick 4 boxes and when you go to the checkout it will show the 4 but discount the price of 1 box. Then pick the free shipping. The last time I did this was on Tuesday or Wednesday.

For spelling you should do what I do. I have the Google Toolbar installed, and it has a pretty decent spell checker option. :)
Getting in on this kind of late but Cherry is my favorite all around smoke. But I think Wildcat probably hit it with apple. Plus you have the option of spritzing with applejuice or better yet AppleJack for moisture. mmmmmmmmmm. ;D ;D
Of the types that I have tried, I will also give a vote to apple for an all-arounder.
I use more apple than anthing else. Hickory comes in right behind apple though.
Years ago when I started smoking, I had a ton of local hickory available, still do, and that's what I learned on mostly and discovered my style with. I still keep a huge garbage bag full of local hickory chunks on hand for my other smoker and a 120 pack of hickory bisquettes for my Bradley. I like it on everything I've smoked with it. Hickory is what I use most of the time.
Now, that being said, I've developed a strong liking to apple wood lately. And I won't do a brisket without mesquite but I don't need 120 bisquettes of mesquite just yet.
So after all that, everyone above is right of course...it comes down to personal preference.
