Title: Can A Brine Be Used Twice?
Post by: TxSmoker on December 20, 2007, 09:57:21 AM
Hello all and Merry Christmas!!

I am doing 2 turkeys this Christmas and I have them timed for one to be in the brine and then into the BS at which time the next bird will be put into the brine.  Can I use the same brine or do I need to make a new batch?
Thanks for the help!
Steve

Please don't re-use it.  The brine will give up a lot of it's goodies, and in return, the meat will give up some it's stuff too, and the second piece will probably be ruined.

Thanks!  Kinda what I thought, but I wanted to make sure.

Have a great Christmas and don't forget the reason for the season!

Tiny is spot on on that. Plus you chance a real bacteria problem. Not a nice thing for poultry. ;)
