Title: element rheostat
Post by: Badland on January 12, 2008, 07:57:52 AM
Bought a electric element for my old smoker (first wore out) and did not come with rheostat, thought it would work out oka but gets way to hot for smoking. For cooking it does great. Its a 1500 element, does anyone know of a place I can get a rheostat? If I can't find one might just retire the old smoker and go new but this thing is seasoned and works great when I can control the heat. Thanks for any info. Tim

Great site, good info!

You can find some at McMaster.com and maybe Grainger.com. One at McMaster is part number 1760K71. I personally have not used any but its a place to start looking. You will need to make sure whatever you select will handle the voltage and amperage the heating element uses.
Good Luck.
