Title: Haven't gone away
Post by: Smoking Duck on January 19, 2008, 04:51:19 AM
Hey all,
Just wanted to let you know that I haven't gone away, just hit a bad stretch.

Lost my job on Wednesday and then had a house fire on Thursday.

Everyone got out with no injuries, so all is good there.  Just haven't been able to find the time to get on or do any smoking for that matter.

I'll check in from time to time until things get back to some sort of normal.

Holy Crap SD!  :o

We certainly hope everything gets sorted out for you and your family. When stuff like this happens you have to look at the positive side of it or you will have way too much stress over it.

Thank God everybody was ok!

Mike

Wow.  Sorry to hear about your losses yet glad to hear everyone is alright.  How much damage with the fire?  I once lost a home to a fire and it is a depressing situation.  With a little faith and detemination you can recover easier that it appears.  Try to keep us up to date.

Wow Duck, sorry to hear about your missfortune. I always like to believe things happen for a reason and usually you end up for the better. You may not know that reason right now, but you will look back and go "Now I understand why that happened." Don't know if you are a religious man, but I will say a prayer for you and your family. Keep your head up!

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes. I hope the house fire was not too serious. One big plus is that no one was injured.

Thanks for the kind words all.

The damage to the house by the fire was mostly confined to the basement.  Unfortunately, the smoke damage was extensive.  They won't let us take anything out of the house at all, so we're in a hotel for the time being.  It looks like right now it will be about 6 months before we get to move back in assuming all goes according to schedule.

It could have been worse for sure and I really don't need to be without a paycheck right now, but sometimes you just gotta act like Muhammad Ali and do the rope-a-dope while life beats you around until it gets tired and then you just start firing back.  I won't lie and tell you that I didn't feel like laying down for a while but with the wife and kids, you need to keep up a strong front.

I don't know why these things happen either and I'm certain I've heard it here but everyday you wake up and the ceiling is 6 feet over your head versus 6 inches, it's a good day (although I do have to ask my wife if I'm still alive every morning).

Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers.  They are much appreciated.

If someone can let Iceman know that I'll still want the PDI but it may be a little while before I can deal with it, I'd appreciate it.

I'm so sorry to hear about the fire SD. I've been through one fire and that was one to many!!! I have your PID built but am waiting on Thermo works to send the probe. They are out of stock at the moment. Just PM me on the when and where. No hurry at all so don't add that to the list of stress you already have going. Take care and keep in touch. Our prayers are with you buddy.
