Title: VENT SMOKE ?

On the BDS how do you know how much to open the top vent ??

ie: for ribs ?

I dunno...I keep mine full open on everything, but some people will say I should adjust it to open just far enough that smoke doesn't back out through the generator on certain items.

Best advice I can give is to keep it open far enough for smoke to not back up into the generator, and open it further when you have foods containing more water (like poultry).

I always go about half open on mine and Ive never had any issues no matter what Ive smoked.
