Title: What about this PID Temp. controller..
Post by: Tim S on April 06, 2008, 07:16:02 PM
Do you guys think this controller would work or do I need to get the 1/16 DIN model?
Would you guys buy a thermocouple from Auberins??

Tim S,

Looks good to me.

TCs are near dirt on the E.E. food chain; hard to get them wrong.

I saw a post last night where a Temp Switch was used instead of a PID.
What do you think about using a TS rather than the PID??

Tim S,

Temp switch is not unlike your oven temperature control. Will have some hysteresis (+/- some number of degrees around a setpoint). Good enough for a large number of applications.

If you are doing pulled pork then no problem. If you want to hold 165 F for sausage then the swing can be a problem.
