Title: Memorial Day 2008
Post by: West Coast Kansan on May 23, 2008, 02:47:43 PM
I have tried to post something appropriate for important days like we have this weekend. Usually about my family and appreciation for what we have and the opportunity to build our own legacy going forward.

Because of back to the midwest travel (real home) this year I thought I would share this link.  It has been going around on email but it is quick and easy to share and I think some will enjoy it.

Give "Before You Go"  a listen (sound ON and enjoy the slide show).

For me it allowed some time thanking my father - long past now - and his generation - a special time.  :'(  but  :D       ;)

That was great. I pray they are never forgotten for their service and sacrifices.

That really is great WCK!

Although nothing to do with Memorial Day, here is a storey in our local paper. It's about a gentleman who survived the Holocaust. He lives in Newfoundland (I believe) and a high school teacher (who happen to be my cousins husband) talked him into coming all the way across Canada to talk to his students. Well he not only did that he also spoke at the other schools here and at one public event. During his speech he literally has everybody in tears. It's too bad the whole storey isn't in the online article but you will get an idea of what his speech was about. Great storey.

Thanks WCK!  I consider it one of the greatest priviledges of my life to have followed in their footsteps.  What I loved most about that generation was that the country asked of them and they never asked why.  They just did it.  We're losing more and more of our greatest national treasures every day.  When you see a vet, make sure to thank them.
