Title: Are our smokers legal?
Post by: westexasmoker on July 21, 2008, 04:36:46 PM
They have a bbq competition here in town every year, and looks like the company I work for is wanting to put together a team which has a huge offset, but I was wondering if using the OBS is legal for use?

Probably depends on the competition but I am pretty sure that electric smokes are illegal at most. I am sure someone else will have a definite answer for you.

That is my understating also. The electric smokers generally can't compete.

What about the propane unit, or is it charcoal / wood only ?

Thats a good question FL, I guess I'm gonna have to go find the rules involved, even if we have to use the offset (not a problem) it would still be nice to use the BS to keep things hot.

Sad but true. Most contest rules I saw said wood / charcoal.
