Title: Got a Bradley
Post by: Memquisit on August 25, 2008, 11:50:19 AM
Well, after many months of looking and researching, I bought a Bradley Smoker today.

There are quite a few smokers on the market, but after all was said and done, I made up my mind I was going to get a Bradley, just didn't think it'd be now.  The reason was that Cabela's had a sale on the Stainless Steel Bradley ($100 off) so rather than wait any longer I drove down to the store and got it.

I'm in for a whole new learning experience for I've not had any experience with an electric smoker.  I've done a lot with a charcoal smoker, and I'm anxious to get started with my new "toy".

I'm glad I found this site because I know I'll get good advice from the people who are on this forum.  I ask only 1 thing...be patient with me.

Welcome Memquisit,
You will find this forum more like a family than anything else.  Good learning, good fun, compassion, and often a good ear if you need one.  A lot of really great folks.  Patience is usually not a problem here.  We were all starters with the Bradley when we first purchased them.   :)
The smoking basics are pretty much the same, but the Bradley makes it even more basic.

The recipe site is a great resource.  Take a trip overthere and there and check it out.

Welcome MemQ,

As was previously pointed out, this site is like a family..., a great big dysfunctional family that has some of the coolest quirks I've ever seen.  WestTexasSmoker will tell you that the only wood you can smoke with is Mesquite.  After trying several of the Bradley bisquettes, I won't argue with him, but the others produce some pretty good flavor as well.

The folks from up North..., Alaska and our Canadian friends, will have you drooling over smoked salmon, the likes of which you will not find in a 5-star restaurant.

The folks from the fine South..., will be enticing you with rib recipes that will have Emeril jealous.  All I can say is "ENJOY."  Welcome to the forum, take some time to read some of the posts that you think pertain to your next smoking endeavour, and prepare to have lots of new friends ;)

Jeff
