Title: Happy Holiday To All, esp those far from home
Post by: nsxbill on December 17, 2004, 01:07:12 AM
I just got back from the post office after mailing off a little package to a good friend of mine, Chris.  He is a retired Navy LCDR, a SEAL, and in harms way this Christmas, and for the next 3-4 years.

I roasted up four batches of coffee and sent them on the way for him and the team he is with.  He is presently in the
Middle East leading a group that deals with informational warfare.  No, he is no longer in the military.  He still works for Uncle Sam.  No specifics given or asked for.  He told me that while Iraq is simply upside down insane, Afghanistan is amazingly beautiful and believe it or not  tranquil for the most part. The people of Uzbekistan are some of the warmest, sincerest, caring people he has met to date.

For those of us who have known that path and have gotten something from home, or have relatives or friends "In-country," it is the little things we do and say that almost makes them feel a little closer to home.

I wish our troops and those in the middle of this now, enough.  Yes, enough.  I got sent a reminder about wishing some one "enough" from my older sister who emailed me a little note the other day.

When wishing someone enough, we want the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.

Enough sun to keep your attitude bright.

Enough rain to appreciate the sun more.

Enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.

Enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.

Enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

Enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

Enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye."

To my friends, I wish you ENOUGH!!!

Remember our troops as they travel that road so far away!

Ah, I wax poetic!

Got to get the chicken in!

Happy Holidays,

Bill

Here! Here! on what Bill has said.  I just *cough* a big bottle of Brandy to a friend who is over there. He says they cannot purchase it over there, but he sure as all hell can drink it!

It's always a positive thing to send our guys a package from home whenever you get the chance. One of our employees (real job, not CB) served in Iraq and we put together several care packages for him while he was there.

Please remember, for every guy over there with someone back here thoughtful enough to send something, there are 49 other guys who don't. And, they all share. Our first shipment was one carton. After hearing back from Scott, subsequent shipments were 7 or 8 cartons.

They're not allowed to have pornography. On a totally unrelated note, did you know that if you carefully open a box of cereal, you can easily slide a copy of Playboy inside & re-glue the flaps?[;)][}:)][:D]

Ya think next time I check into a hotel & they ask "Smoking or Non?" they would mind?
