Add some jalapeno hushpuppies, and its time to eat!

Cruel, cruel, cruel.
That is awesome looking even after a great Prime Ribeye, baked potato and garlic bread dinner.
Thank God that catfish wasn't dipped in a fryer after the smoke with a little panko crunch on the outside else I would have had teeth marks in the screen...  I could just barely resist as it is.

Wow! seafood is my all time favourite, and that shrimp is really tormenting me! (http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s62/Gitster59/Tasty.gif) (http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s62/Gitster59/c.gif) The catfish also looks delicious! (http://www.smileygenerator.us/community/html/emoticons/spoton.gif)

Please tell me more about the hushpuppies, i've never had them, not even when i've been in the states  :-\

Had a pair of casual boots once, they were called Hush Puppies:

Anyway, the edible ones sound interesting, so i'd like to make some, if anybody has a nice recipe i'd appreciate it.

Good work WTS.....Now Gizmo feels the pain , many times he starved me on a nightly basis...I had to read post with only my bad eye just so the pics would be fuzzy. Otherwise I'd drool all night. :D ;D

Looks like a great little feast !

I usually just cheat and buy some Bass pro shops pre mix and dice up some jalapenos and mix into it, but homemade pups are easy

1 1/2 cups self-rising cornmeal
1/2 cup self-rising flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg beaten

Mix together to form a batter, then drop about a tsp at a time into hot oil cook until golden brown.

Onion and/or corn is good in the hushpuppies.

Dang, ya'll are making me hungry again and I had fried catfish fillets for lunch!  I've got about 15 lbs of head on shrimp in the freezer.  Looks like I'll be smoking a big ol' batch this weekend.  Probably boil some up too.

Save the shells and heads to make shrimp stock to go in a gumbo.

Thanks for the reminder WTS.

Hey WTS...self rising cornmeal? Are you talking like Jiffy cornbread/muffin mix? I might add.... about 45 cents per box of absolutely the best (added) jalepeno corn muffin mixture you would ever put in your mouth!!! I make a bunch of those mini muffies...freeze them and mix them in at Thanksgiving for stuffing...killer with a smoked turkey...  :)
