Hello All,
I have not posted in a while, but that does not mean I have not been smoking. I actually received a Weber Smokey mountain as a gift a few months back and I was wondering if people felt there was a difference in the end product between a charcoal smoker and electric. I definitely use my digital bradley with auber pid alot more often because it is much more convenient. The Weber does make a good smoker as well, but sometimes you just don't want to deal with the mess of charcoal and babysitting the fire. Anyway, for example, I have had made pulled pork on both of these smokers and I can't say I have noticed that much of a difference if any. What do you all think?
About the only difference I see is the pink ring but quite frankly, I don't need it to enjoy the same great taste. I do enjoy having extra free time to do other things than babysit a smoker. JMHO.

I mainly do steaks, pulled pork and brisket. I prefer the steaks on my charcoal and wood smoker. The brisket and pulled pork I prefer the Bradley which seems to have a smoother smoke flavor. I like the way birds turn out better with the charcoal and wood smoker primarily due to better skin results. When I do other things I prefer the Bradley.
I have used a charcoal and wood griils ,,, gas grills and the OBS ..My personaal feeling is this for grilling steaks, hamburgers, or anything else it will be on the gas grill.. if i want something smoked it willbe in the bradley.. mainly i dont like babysitting a grill ignoring my guests and family

I resemble that remark
;D
For me there is a great deal of difference. I use my water smoker on occassions, and sometimes you just can't beat the combination of smoke, and charcoal or wood.
I have had many types of smokers.
Right now i have my BS's, Traeger and a Weber gas grill. Each one is used for different things.
My BS is good for jerky, sausage, butts, briskit, chicken.
My Weber is good for grilling all sorts of meat, veggies.
Now my Traeger is a whole nother thing. It is like real pit bbq, does everything perfect from apple smoked sausage to zucchini. I still use my BS alot. But my Traeger turns out better BBQ.

I echo with whats already been stated, different tools, different jobs. I still have my offset (must admit have'nt used it in awhile) and it will get used again. OBS for applying smoke to pretty much everything and then off to my charcoal grill, house oven or rotessire for finishing. I just recently added the big easy to my toybox and must say its an amazing tool also. I'm still saving my pennies for a Traeger, maybe santa will bring me one, Oh wait I have'nt been that good this year! ;D
