I have been using the Penzey's Smoked Paprika for a few years.  I just discovered the Spice House a few months ago & they seem to have a little bit bigger selection of spices/etc , including pink salt.  I received an email/ad from them recently and they are on an Alton Brown fruitcake episode this month.  I'll still buy from Penzeys when I'm near one of their stores but if I mail order it will probably be from the Spice House.

I just got a package from Penzeys today. I'll have to check out the spice house next time I need something.

Anyone ever use this store?  Looks like some pretty good prices.

I read somewhere that the owners of Penzeys & the Spice House are related.  I have received one order from the Spice House & they seem to the same quality as Penzeys..     They are similar in a few ways -  the labels are not fancy,  both have the jars but also the spices in plastic bags (which are usually cheaper),  both fresh,  I haven't compared side by side but I think the prices are similar.

I order from Penzey's. I search other sites if Penzey's doesn't have what I'm looking for. So I may try the Spice House next time.

Deb;
You may be right. I was just checking out the site, and their gift packages look very similiar.

Duck, I might give them a try. Prices sure beat Penzeys. I like his shipping. $5.95 for 1 or 20 jars!

Yes they are related . Here is a link to the story.

I have been going there(because I live in Milwaukee) for over 30 years.

That's what I was thinking, SS.  It wouldn't cost much to try a couple different spices.

SD,
Looks like a good place to get spices. Cheaper than whole foods.

OK.......needed spices in the worst way, so I sold a golf club on EBay and used some of the proceeds to try the spices from the location I linked to above.  For $44 (which included shipping) I was able to purchase the following:

I must say these are very generous sized spices.  The most expensive was the smoked paprika.  I haven't tried them yet as they just arrived, but I am impressed by the size.  I will follow up with taste once I use them.

I probably would gave gone that route, but just received a bulk order from Butcher-Packer. I could not find a good way to store, and all the containers I found were expensive. Found these guys and they work great! $1.05  each and they come with a shaker top if you need it. Quick delivery also.

It does go well with a lot of rubs, good in sausage, ect. It's very good if you are using "Jan's Rub". I cut back on the Lawrys and add some horsey powder.

San Francisco Herb Company is another "bulk" herb company - bought from them for years and have been satisfied.
