Smoking soon said this was a great friendly site for all smokers. So I hope ya-all will welcome me so I can learn some new recipes
Welcome, Savannah Smoker. You definitely don't need a Bradley to learn good things here....however, it won't be long before the bug hits you to get one! Please feel free to add any of your recipes as well. We're always willing to learn new things!

Hi Savannahsmoker and welcome to the forum.
Lots great information and friendly folks here for sure. If you haven't been to the recipe site yet just click on the smoker in the bottom of my post. Tons of tried & true recipes there.
Don't be a stranger and keep us posted on your projects.
Mike
Thank you everyone for the welcome. Yes NePaSmoKer we have some good seafood places. But the best is our house with steamed or roasted oysters. We go out in the boat in the morning, get the oysters and have a great afternoon. That with our low country boil makes for a filling day. I got rid of my side firebox uprightsmoker and purchased the Traeger for the smoking and grilling capablity. But I do know the Bradley is a great smoker as two friends have them.
Welcome Savannahsmoker!
Welcome to the forum. Lots of good info here.
welcome to the forum savanna lots of good info
Savannah, Just like I told you, this is a great place. Whatever you want to do with smoke is all here. Bacon, Sausages, Fish, Ribs, Butts, Briskets, Pastrami, Corned Beef, ect. Gosh I just made myself hungry! Better
get a snack!
I can see that, Smoking soon, and I am finding some helpful hints. NePaSmoKer the next time you are in Savannah and want the fell of what the old seafood restaurants were like check out Desposito's Seafood Restaurant. It is right across the bridge out of Thunderbolt. Great food and the price is right. The rest are to commercial and just not Old Savannah.
Welcome Savannah,
You won't find snobbery here. Smoking is what counts the most.
I think next time NePa is in Savannah country, he will skip the commercial places and go straight to your house. ;D
The steamers sound great but you will have to explain the "low country boil" for me.
Ok a low country boil. First you need an outdoor Propane Stove about 60,000 btu's. Next an 80 quart. lots of water, crabl boil, old bay, hot smoke sauage, corn, lobster legs and fresh shimp. Also a large long table with newspaper to dump it out. We feed about 30 with it.
Almost forget lots of beer and liquor.
Yeah Savannah
If my wife could transfer to the area we would be there in a heartbeat. What Traeger do you have. I have a Lil'Tex and love it.

I have the same NePaSmoKer and by the way it is freezing cold here tonight at 56 degrees.

Hi and welcome Savannahsmoker ;)
Giz, every time i look at those pics i go into a drool trance! (http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s62/Gitster59/Tasty.gif) Amazing!
Welcome Savannah, this is a great place to hang out. Enjoy and share.
Well sort of Gizmo, but with corn, sauage, shrimp and potatoes. Same idea on the boil and table and beer but without the crawdads ie mudbugs or crawfish. Nice pics
PS I have sucked many crawfish heads in my life and they are very very tasty.
I will put up some pics but do not know how in this forum.
Savannahsmoker
Here is a how to for posting pictures.

That looks like a really cool place! I just don't think about Georgia and water. For us slickers, whats a mudbug???
I did not know that the crab shack has mudbugs. Well if they do they are from LA or someplace else as we do not have crawfish here. But they look great so we might drive out and have some.

A mudbug is a crawdad or crayfish. Boiled with clams, crabs, potatos, corns, onions, lemons, sausages and crab boil to add some zing ;D all throwed on the table to eat up.........coonass style ;D............gots to suck the heads of them mudbugs (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o290/stlthy1/woohoo.gif)

crayfish, crawfish, crawdad, crawdaddy (small freshwater decapod crustacean that resembles a lobster)

If you ever get to Mississippi, they sure know how to do a mudbug boil................dang, all we got is corn here in Indiana. Still good with Old Bay seasoning but not the same ;) ;D
Hey Smoking Duck, got's to have the corn. I mean without corn where would I get my bourbon. :)
Duck, there is no sweet corn in the world better than Indiana. My Indiana friends are displaced all over the world, and all agree. I have jumped a fence and swiped field corn that is better than Californias best.
Fort Bragg NePaSmoKer I bet that place has change. Was station there once in the 60's and again the 70's. Flew in and out of there until I retired in 99.
Sorry I'm late to the party Savannah...welcome...something tells me you have found a home here!!! :)

I have been going to the LSU Alumni Fund raiser for the last several years here in San Diego. I brought LQ along this year and I believe she really enjoyed the feast. The boil is every year on the Saturday of Memorial day weekend. Might be a long trip for you for some bugs but if you want the scenic vacation in Sunny San Diego, it is good eats.
I enjoyed it tremendously...sign me up again Giz...hopefully Bob will blow off the golf tournament next year!! But with all I brought home and the stories of the day...I think he felt like he was there!!! :)
