Title: Shipping smoked goodies as gifts
Post by: JNB on December 23, 2008, 04:27:31 PM
What's the furthest you've shipped anything to?  Any special preps?  Imitations of Omaha Steaks delivery methods?  Any "if I'd only known" stories?  How about cold-smoke cured only (not cooked) items, like cheese, lox, or bacon?

I exchange gifts with friends across the country and in Europe & Asia, and next year would like to send some things from the smoker.  I've sent jerky (real jerky, just salt & peppered, dehydrated, and vacuum packed), but nothing really perishable.  I'd like to start getting ahead of it now so I can plan for next year.

I looked into shipping some meat and cheese to my brother in the Philippines. Ran into dead ends. If it is a food product, and not in a can forget it. Others I dont know.

Scottsdale's about 30 minutes from here.  Next time, ship it to me and I'll deliver it for you.  I promise.   ;)
