Title: WHOLE ROUND FLATS
Post by: sherlock on January 12, 2009, 05:29:08 AM
Found whole "Round" flats on sale for $1.99. They are the "bottom" side of the round and weigh around 12 to 13 pounds each.

I bought a couple over the weekend. They are still in the cryovac packaging sitting in the fridge. I don't know what I will do with them yet. If nothing else, I will grind some, cut some into stew meat, cut and cube some steaks and possible cut out a roast from each.

Looking for suggestions.

sherlock, looks like you got a great buy. $1.99lb. over here is a thing of the past no matter what cut. No suggestions, I would pretty much treat it the way you're going to. Maybe make a load of fatties. ;D ;D ;D

They make one of the best "pot roasts" you ever tasted.Either smoked or not. Also you might try some "French Dip". Lite smoked and thin sliced Med to rare. Good Luck!

imagine I will cut out a couple across the grain for pot roast. Throw them in a pot with some potatos, carrots and onions.

Getting hungary already.

Don't forget to brown it first with a little flower & seasonings-makes all the differance in the flavor!
Good luck, & don't forget the garlic & onions.
