My friends, I will apologize in advance for this post as it has zero to do with Bradley Smokers but as Jan and I have not been in NOLA in over a year, I needed to tell somebody we're going back down for Easter weekend. ;D ;D ;D It is our absolute favorite time to be in the French Quarter. Booked the train tickets tonight for the trip down and back. We love riding the City of New Orleans. Will arrive the Saturday afternoon of Easter weekend and start the journey back home :'( the following Thursday afternoon.
We are very fired up to be going back again.
KyNOLA
Kynola, is that the same train they used to run that started in Chicago? Party time!!! :D ;D
It still runs daily (both directions) for the overnight (19 hours) run from Chicago through Kankakee and Memphis to NOLA (just like in the song).
Good on you, KY. I'm sure you and Jan will have a wonderful time. It's always good to go back to the place you love.
:D Can you bring me a Mufflatta sandwhich from Central Grocery ?? :D
Been to that grocery...great sandwich ;D ;)
Great sandwich at Central Grocery but really rude people that wait on you there. Next time you're in NOLA, try the muffaletta at Napoleon House. Another really good version of the same sandwich. Dang, I haven't had lunch yet and I am drooling!!!!

NOLA is one of our fav places to go besides Savanah.
Have a great time you and your wife........ Be careful out there.
nepas
NePaS,
Always careful there. Been going regularly for dang near 20 years. Know the rules of the street for staying safe in the Quarter. We have a special treat in store this trip. We have good friends who live in Lafitte, just south of NOLA and live on the Bayou Barataria. They are going to take us out on their converted oyster lugger(now a very slow pleasure boat) into the bayou and swamps. We have wanted to do a trip like that since the first time we ever visited NOLA.
Sorry guys, can you tell I am excited about going back to NOLA?
KyNola
Ky,
Sounds like you are going to have an awesome trip. I've never been but it is a place I want to get to some day.

Trips to New Orleans are kind of like the 1960s... If you can remember them, you weren't really there.
LQ & Ka Honu,
NOLA does have some food like no other and they have been known to serve you a drink or two. :D I won't bother the folks on the forum with how NOLA came to be so special for us within the first 30 minutes of our first trip 20 years ago. Very special deal for Jan and me.

Ky...haven't been there in years...but....geezzzz it was fun...before Katrina as well as after....doesn't matter...what a great city....the people are amazing...the food is KILLER....
I have never had the chance to go there but it is on my list. Have a great trip.
I usually go for JazzFest and already have my tickets - 61 days and counting.
